Leonardo Masotti, the founder of El.En. was awarded a research prize to celebrate his career in science

On December 3rd 2019, Professor Leonardo Masotti, the founder of El.En. SpA, received a research prize for his career in science.

The prize, awarded by the Region of Tuscany, was presented during the event "Research goes on stage: the reasons for public funding in R&D" held in Florence at "La Compagnia" Cinema Theater.

The Minister of Education, University and Research, Lorenzo Fioramonti, and the Vice President and Council Member for Culture of the Region of Tuscany, Monica Barni both took part in the event.

Leonardo Masotti has dedicated his whole career to laser research. First in his role as university professor of Electronic Engineering at the University of Florence and then as the CEO of El.En., the company he founded in 1981 to manufacture CO2 lasers for the industrial sector.

Today El.En. S.p.A. is the leading company of a group that operate in all laser compatible fields: from medicine to the restoration of monuments to the construction of systems for laser material processing. El.En. has reached its incredible level of expertise by putting research at the forefront of their strategy.

The award presented to Professor Masotti was a well-deserved recognition of all the hard work of a scientist who was able to make scientific research the heart of a company now present all over the world.
