Turin, 21th November 2024 - In celebration of its bicentenary, the Egyptian Museum in Turin has received a valuable donation from El.En. SpA: an EOS 1000 LQS laser system, a cutting-edge technology designed for the restoration of artworks and ancient artefacts. The handover ceremony took place on 20th November at the Egyptian Museum, attended by members of El.En’s Light for Art Division, the Museum’s Director Christian Greco, the President Evelina Christillin, its conservators, and the entire leadership of the Turin institution.
The innovative laser donated by El.En. is set to play a crucial role in the restoration of the Museum’s treasured artefacts, contributing to the preservation and enhancement of the invaluable historical and artistic heritage it safeguards. The LQS 1000 LQS laser is the result of years of research in laser cleaning technology, enabling precise interventions that respect ancient materials and is already internationally recognized for its effectiveness.
The laser itself also bears a special design: its coverings are two-toned in Egyptian blue and desert sand yellow, with some inscriptions even featuring hieroglyphics.
“Collaborating with prestigious institutions like the Egyptian Museum in Turin is part of our philanthropic commitment to the preservation and promotion of art and cultural heritage,” stated El.En.’s General Manager, Paolo Salvadeo. “For us, supporting culture and institutions is an investment in the future, allowing us to put our technology at the service of the community. We are proud to contribute on such a significant occasion as the bicentenary of one of the world’s most important museums.”
The ceremony marked a celebration of the Egyptian Museum’s long history, as it was founded in 1824 and remains a global reference point for archaeology and Egyptology. The visit of Italy’s President Sergio Mattarella further enriched the day’s celebrations, underscoring the national recognition of the Museum’s historical and cultural significance.
This donation from El.En. marks a new chapter in the collaboration between the technology industry and cultural institutions, with a shared mission to protect and promote humanity’s treasures.
